Reel 9 has been working on producing Meat Man, which will debut as a short film, and live theater production in September.

The official movie poster for Reel 9’s short film, “Number 9,” staring Nathan Edmondson. “Number 9” was selected as a 2010 Accolade Film Awards winner!

“Number 9” was filmed on location in Philadelphia at the famous Eastern State Penitentiary, America’s oldest and most historic penitentiary. Abandoned for over thirty-five years, the site lies in ruin. Upon his visit in 1842, Charles Dickens once described the effects of Eastern State upon its inhabitants as having a "slow and daily tampering with the mysteries of the brain," which he viewed as "immeasurably worse than any torture of the body." On the surface this film is the story of a man trying to find a means of escape; however, the viewer is confronted with their own interpretation of what it means to be trapped or truly free.

You can now download all 18 songs that were featured in both the live theatrical and film versions of the production as performed by the original cast. The soundtrack from Meat Man: The Musical can now be found on Amazon.com in the form of a digital download, Amazon Disc on Demand, iTunes, Spotify, and Android Market. Happy listening!

Meat Man the Musical wins the Accolade Competition!

Eric Zrinsky, Erin Davis, Nathan Edmondson, and James Dattilo of Reel 9 Productions, have won a prestigious Award of Merit from The Accolade Competition. This award was given for Reel 9’s exciting film, Meat Man, which was an all original musical and also premiered as a live theater show at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Meat Man features exceptional singing, acting, writing, and musical composition.

The Accolade recognizes film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change.  Entries are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film and television industry.  Information about The Accolade and a list of recent winners can be found at www.theaccolade.net.

“The Way to Kevin” set to debut soon!

The final touches are being applied to the forthcoming documentary, “The Way to Kevin,” an in depth and personal look at the life and experience of local Philadelphia person of interest, Kevin Mines. The film follows Kevin’s exploits for a year and a half and promises to deliver a powerful and touching look into the life of one man struggling to define himself and to rise above the wounds left by an abusive and tumultuous past.
